A high-level delegation of the Coastal Mechanised Sail Vessel Owners’ Association (CMSVOA-Tuticorin) has visited Kulhudhuffushi City and Addu City.
The delegation was accompanied by Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) Shahid Ali, and Deputy CEO Ibrahim Abdulla. During the visit, the delegation held a meeting with the senior management of MPL and discussed how they can improve their services, and cooperate in mutual areas of interest to boost bilateral trade relations.
The delegation also visited the Kulhudhuffushi Regional Port and Hithadhoo Regional Port and met with members of the local business communities. During the meetings, the members of the delegation vowed to give their full support for the operation of vessels to transport perishables and other goods from Tuticorin, India, to the Kulhudhuffushi and Hithadhoo ports and operate scheduled transports based on demand. They also said Maldivian businesses will receive opportunities to establish business relations with Indian importers.
During the meetings, the representatives of Maldivian businesses addressed the challenges of receiving services from the Kulhudhuffushi and Hithadhoo ports. MPL stated that it would solve the issues faced by the businesses and that it is working closely with the CMSVOA in exploring opportunities to expand bilateral trade between India and the Maldives.
