Immigration offers convenient services at VIA during peak season

Maldives Immigration has made major changes to the services at Velana International Airport (VIA) to facilitate passengers with the start of the peak tourist season. A large number of tourists visit the Maldives from December to February every year.

Immigration has already increased the number of counters in preparation for the peak season. Previously, there were 11 departure counters and 14 counters at arrival counters. Currently, seven counters have been added for departure and 11 counters for arrival. The manual boards on the counters are also being digitised and the documents can be changed if necessary, the according to Immigration.

The peak tourist season has now begun and changes are being made to other services at VIA. Immigration said it is working with the Maldives Airports Company (MACL) to make changes to the interior of the venue to manage the queues in the departure and arrival halls. In addition, a large number of officers from various divisions of Immigration are being involved in airport operations in order to increase the number of employees working at the added counters for departure and arrival. Immigration is also in discussions with the relevant authorities to increase the number of employees.
