In a previous tweet, Home Minister Imran noted the crime rate of Dharanboodhoo is low and that the new police post will serve to eliminate any existing crimes to ensure a safer island.

MPS is undertaking several efforts to increase the capacity of the institution in order to ensure a safe and peaceful society. MPS revealed the services of the law enforcement authority have improved significantly over the last few years and is determined to strengthen public confidence and trust in its services. MPS expressed hope the new police post on both islands will help to eliminate crime on the island and establish a peaceful community.

The government launched a project to establish a police presence on all inhabited islands in the Maldives by 2023 in a major initiative to ensure a safe and secure country. The USD48 million project will see the development of 61 police stations.
