Gov't holds Fisheries Expo in Faresmaathodaa to mark Fishermen's Day

Ministry of Fisheries, Marine Resources and Agriculture has held a Fisheries Expo in Faresmaathodaa, Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll, as part of the National Fisherman's Day celebrations and in line with the administration’s efforts to further develop and promote the fisheries sector.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih travelled to Faresmaathodaa to join Fishermen's Day activities. He visited the stands at the expo and inquired about the products and services on display. He toured the expo and launched some new products introduced by the Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company Ltd. (MIFCO) and Horizon Fisheries Private Limited.

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC), Horizon Fisheries, Ensis Group Private Limited, Seagull Group Private Limited, Pressure Tech Maldives Private Limited, Big Fish Maldives Private Limited, Ooreedoo Maldives, Nooraajje, and Faresmaathodaa Island Council each had a stand at the expo.

Afterward, President Solih attended a fish-filleting competition held as part of Fishermen's Day celebrations, featuring 12 contenders including eight women and four men. A number of activities are being held on Faresmaathodaa as part of Fishermen's Day celebrations.
