Innamaadhoo households being connected to water supply network

Male’ Water and Sewerage Company Private Limited (MWSC) has begun connecting the households in Innamaadhoo, Raa Atoll, to the water supply network.

MWSC commenced the project to establish the water supply system in Innamaadhoo in October 2021. Under the project, an 8.33km water supply network is being established, which will supply water to 215 households. Two reverse osmosis (RO) plants are being established along with two storage tanks, each with a capacity of 290cbm. Another storage tank with a capacity of 1,010cbm will be established to store rainwater. The project is worth USD3.3 million.

MWSC stated the development of the main water supply network is 95% complete and connections have been established at 66 households. It also stated that a contractor will be hired to complete the leftover work for the rainwater collection system.

Residents of Innamaadhoo are greatly in need of a clean water supply system, since gathering rainwater is potentially hazardous as work involving fiber material is conducted on the island, which releases particles that could contaminate the water supply.
