Maldivian Call Centre in Fuvamulah to create more jobs

Vice President Faisal Naseem stated that the opening of the call centre of the national airline, Maldivian, in Fuvahmulah City will create many job opportunities for the youth. The opening ceremony of the call centre was attended by government officials and officials from the national airline.

Speaking at the ceremony to relocate the call centre service of the airline, Vice President Naseem said that Fuvahmulah is one of the most challenging islands in the country in terms of finding job opportunities and facilitating such opportunities. He said that one reason was the lack of natural resources such as uninhabited islands and reefs that can be used for tourism unlike other islands in the Maldives. He, therefore, said a different approach should be taken to provide employment opportunities for the youth of Fuvahmulah.

Additionally, Vice President Naseem said that under the government's decentralisation policy, President Ibrahim Solih will equitably develop all inhabited islands and provide essential services to every atoll resident. He said the opening of the call centre in Fuvahmulah is proof of that.

Furthermore, Vice President Naseem said that many airports have been opened in the country recently. He said that many airports are being developed and the national airline fleet should be expanded as well. He urged the airline to expand its services as it is a public service provider.

The national airline stated that a total of 13 employees from Fuvahmulah have been trained to work at the reservation and ticketing call centre. The centre will be open from 0900-2000hrs every day from Saturday to Thursday and from 1400-2000hrs on Sundays. The national airline also introduced a short code number 1671 to provide services from the call centre to the public.
