Gov't hands over picnic area to Faresmaathoda Island Council

Minister of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure Mohamed Aslam has handed over the picnic area developed in Faresmaathoda, Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll to the island council.

Speaking to PSM News, President of the Faresmaathoda Island Council Ahmed Imthiyaz said that the newly developed picnic area has been equipped with a barbecue grill, tables, and chairs. He said that the materials were provided under the
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) and Fenaka Corporation Limited.

Additionally, Imthiyaz said that the area has been developed to hold swimming programmes and other activities for school children. He said that the council plans to rent the venue for various ceremonies and parties in the future. He also said that the picnic area has been developed to be used at night and dustbins have also been installed to keep the area clean.

Construction of the picnic area started in January this year and was completed on December 10, and handed over to the council on December 13.
