Foundation laid for new Ahmadhiyya School building

The foundation has been laid for the new Ahmadhiyya International School building. The foundation stone was laid by the Mayor of Male’ City Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and the Principal of Ahmadhiyya International School Mohamed Rasheed.

Ahmadhiyya is the only school in Male' City that teaches students from baby nursery to grade 12. The new 10-storey building is being built inside the school’s premises on the grounds that had the administrative wing.

The school was opened in 1982 with eight classrooms and an administration office. The school has been expanded to include a four-storey building, and two five-storey buildings with a total of 37 classrooms. Over 2,000 students are currently enrolled at Ahmadhiyya International School.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has pledged to solve the space constraints at Ahmadhiyya International School. Speaking at the ceremony held to mark the 40th anniversary of the school in February, President Solih said the most significant accomplishment of the school had been educating generations of productive alumni and emphasised that the alumni of the school now serve as parliamentarians, senior government officials, and in a wide array of technical fields. He also spoke about the numerous milestones reached by the school over its history and acknowledged the limitations faced by the school due to space constraints, adding that the administration was working to provide the necessary assistance in this regard.
