Kolhufushi Council commends gov’t for initiating developmental projects

Kolhufushi Island Council has commended the administration of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih for initiating the most developmental projects in Kolhufushi, Meemu Atoll.

Speaking at a meeting with President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, the council members noted that the administration has successfully established essential services on the island. They further said that the ongoing project to develop 100 housing units would address most of the community's concerns. They also highlighted the need for road construction, the development of a football ground and community centre, and arranging travel to Muli via the lagoon.

Speaking with the council, President Solih said that the administration prioritises consulting with community leaders and residents to improve their engagement and inquire about their sentiments towards its developmental plans. He also briefed the council members on the administration's developmental plans for Kolhufushi, including projects earmarked for next year and updates on efforts to develop tourism in the region. He then informed them of the administration's plans to expedite the ongoing housing project.
