NDMA receives land plot to establish office

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has been assigned a land plot to establish its office building. The 39,000sqft plot was given in front of the Treetop Hospital in Hulhumale'.

Speaking to PSM News, Chief Executive Hisan Hassan said the land plot was assigned by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih due to the importance of the work of NDMA. He noted that the authority has faced challenges in fulfilling its duties due to space constraints and the frequent transfer of its office to different buildings.

Furthermore, Chief Executive Hisan expressed confidence that the land plot will allow NDMA to expand its services across the country and allow the authority to work more closely with the public. He said that major changes will be brought to its management next year.

NDMA was established by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih as per the Disaster Management Act in 2018 to replace the National Disaster Management Centre (NDMC). One of the most important objectives of NDMA is to implement disaster risk reduction at the national level. This includes planning processes, establishing agreed standards, and developing procedures and policies.
