Maldives launches e-book for 50th year of tourism

Ministry of Tourism has published an e-book titled 'Fathuruverikamuge Ran Fansaas' to mark the golden year of tourism in the Maldives. The book was unveiled by Maizaan Umar Maniku who was engaged in resort and liveaboard development in the early years of Maldivian tourism.

The ministry stated that the book contains an address by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. This book shares the beginnings of tourism and its key players, how tourism developed, the role of government and the role of tourism in the economy of the Maldives. The book also includes sections on revolutionary changes in transportation, major tourism-related projects, and the responsibility of future generations to sustain tourism.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the tourism industry in the Maldives which has won the World Leading Destination award at the World Travel Awards for the third consecutive year. Meanwhile, the government’s target of 1.6 million tourists was met on December 20, 2022.
