Ministry of Finance has revealed that the government repaid USD18 million in loans in the first week of 2023.
Statistics from the finance ministry show that the government spent USD43 million from January 1-5, of which USD18 million was spent on loan repayment. The amount is significantly higher compared to the USD1.2 million spent on loan repayment in 2022.
The statistics also show that USD5.8 million was spent on the Public Sector Investment Programme (PSIP) in the first week of this year, while USD19 million was spent on recurrent expenditure. The government also received USD4 million in revenue, of which USD1.5 million was tax revenue and USD2.5 were non-tax revenue.
