Hanimaadhoo Island Council has revealed that land plots have been allocated for 200 recipients.
The council allocated land plots in two areas of Hanimaadhoo, which are located east of the football field and near the community of Hathifushi residents that moved to the island.
The council decided to allocate 200 land plots of 3,000sqft for residential purposes. The application period was opened from February 20 to March 31 in 2022. The council awarded land plots to 195 applicants with more than 70 marks and the remaining five plots were allocated by drawing lots among 17 eligible candidates who received 70 marks.
The council stated that the 200 plots were allocated to those registered in Hanimaadhoo with the aim to provide relief to the increasing number of residents in need of housing on the island. Hanimaadhoo is facing a housing issue and the land plots were opened after 12 years.
