Indian External Minister arrives in Maldives

Minister of External Affairs of India, Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar has arrived on an official visit to the Maldives.

Upon arrival at Maafaru International Airport in Noonu Atoll, Minister Jaishankar was received by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid, senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the President of the Noonu Atoll Council, and members of the Noonu Maafaru Council.

During the visit, Minister Jaishankar is scheduled to participate in the groundbreaking ceremony of the Hanimaadhoo International Airport Development Project, being constructed under the Line of Credit (LoC) from India. During the visit, Minister Jaishankar will call on President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and Minister Shahid. Both Ministers are scheduled to hold official talks and witness the exchange of several Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) between the two countries at a ceremony to be held in Manadhoo, Noonu Atoll. Minister Jaishankar will also participate in the inauguration ceremony of the Foakaidhoo Community Centre in Shaviyani Atoll. Additionally, he will visit Utheemu in Haa Alifu Atoll and tour the historical sites during his visit.

It is Jaishankar’s fourth visit to the Maldives as the Minister of External Affairs of India. His last visit was in March 2022 to Addu City.
