President defends administration's development vision

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has stated there are certain principles and styles in which his government works, and every project is implemented heeding to those principles. He made the remarks while speaking at the ceremony held to inaugurate Hanimaadhoo International Airport Development Project.

Speaking at the ceremony, President Solih said the project will revolutionise the outlook of the whole region. He said the government first starts by penning down projects with extensive research to get the best results. He said that many projects are underway as part of the government's vision for the development of the northern atolls, adding many of them have begun and are coming to an end. Commenting on those who are politically critical of the government, he said the people and a country can be run smoothly by putting aside a lot of personal feelings and emotions.

The development of Hanimaadhoo International Airport, the largest project to be conducted in the north of the country, is being funded by loan assistance from the EXIM Bank of India and includes major infrastructure and operational upgrades and building infrastructure to meet the future growth of traffic to the Maldives. The airport is located on the island of Hanimaadhoo in Haa Dhaalu Atoll. The airport was upgraded in 2012 to cater to international flights.
