President assures Maldives is being led down right path

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has assured the current path led by the government will not cause harm but will end with progress across the Maldives. He made the remarks while speaking at the ceremony held to inaugurate Hanimaadhoo International Airport Development Project.

Highlighting the vision to connect the entire country with an integrated transport system, President Solih said the administration had mobilised resources for the Maafaru International Airport Development Project following the completion of Hoarafushi Airport and Faresmaathoda Airport. He also announced that the administration had secured funds for airport development projects in Bilehfahi in Shaviyani Atoll, Thulhaadhoo in Baa Atoll, and Vilufushi in Thaa Atoll.

Speaking about the revolutionary developmental progress spearheaded by the administration, President Solih stated all these projects will connect the entire country with a sustainable transportation system. Noting developing an airport within 30 minutes of every island is an important pledge, the president said the economy will grow with the government's efforts to connect the entire country by air and sea. He said all the policies and goals of the government have a specific direction which is crucial to achieving the island lifestyle envisioned by the government.

In conclusion, President Solih said with the projects implemented by the government in the north of the Maldives will prepare the region for tourism, agriculture, and other economic activities.

The government has expressed the belief that the completion of the Hanimaadhoo International Airport Development Project will greatly facilitate the expansion of tourism by increasing the number of resorts, city hotels, and guesthouses. The project is expected to increase business and employment opportunities in the northern provinces. The development of Hanimaadhoo International Airport will also play an important role in implementing the government's plans to establish a modern maritime hub in the north of the country that will provide services to large cargo ships travelling along the main shipping routes of the world.

Hanimaadhoo International Airport is located on the island of Hanimaadhoo in Haa Dhaalu Atoll. The airport was upgraded in 2012 to cater to international flights.
