MTCC to develop Maafushi harbour

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has been contracted to develop and modernise the harbour in Maafushi, Kaafu Atoll.

The agreement was signed by Director General of the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure Shaana Farooq and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of MTCC Adam Azim.

MTCC is tasked with developing a 374m harbour in Maafushi. The island has a population of 5,000 residents and there are difficulties using its existing harbour due to the increase in the number of fishing vessels and individuals travelling to the island. The state-owned company will also be building a 465m outer wall, 64m revetment, 700m of geo bag revetment, 160m concrete jetty and concrete bridge payment, and installing streetlights as part of the project.
