Water and sewerage projects begin in 4 islands in Baa Atoll

Fenaka Corporation Limited has commenced projects to develop water and sewerage systems in four islands in Baa Atoll. The projects were launched in Kudarikilu, Dhonfanu, Fehendhoo and Fulhadhoo. Fenaka is now constructing reverse osmosis (RO) buildings in the islands.

The establishment of safe water and sewerage systems in all islands of the Maldives is one of the most important pledges of the government. Many projects are being implemented in different parts of the country to establish water and sewerage systems in islands where services are lacking.

Water and sewerage systems were established in the capital island Eydhafushi and the second most populous island Thulhaadhoo in Baa Atoll when the current government took office in 2018. The most important thing the government considers when implementing projects is to bring development with basic services to the people regardless of the size of the population which is being seen throughout the country. As such, water service is now being provided in Dharavadhoo out of 11 islands in Baa Atoll. Water and sewerage systems have also been completed in Goidhoo, and water and sewerage project is now nearing completion in Hithadhoo.
