Kulhudhuffushi Airport shore protection to be concluded in March

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has mobilised the site for the development of shore protection structures in Kulhudhuffushi Airport.

Speaking regarding the progress of Kulhudhuffushi Airport Shore Protection Project, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of MTCC, Adam Azim said the existing revetment was previously not properly installed, therefore the entire revetment had to be removed and a new revetment will be installed. He said the entire project will be completed by the end of March.

MTCC is tasked with developing shore protection structures at the Kulhudhuffushi Airport. As such, the state-owned company will be constructing an 882m revetment and a 30m groyne within 200 days at a cost of USD2.7 million.

Kulhudhuffushi Airport was officially inaugurated in 2018. The runway developed at the airport is 1,200m long and 30m wide. The airport was built reclaiming 15 hectares of land from Kulhudhuffushi City in Haa Dhaalu Atoll.
