Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has announced the land plots in Hulhumale’ to be leased to garages operating in Male’ City will be handed over in March.
HDC opened the opportunity to apply for the land allocated for garages on December 20, 2022. HDC revealed that it received over 200 applications while the deadline for submission for land plots expired on January 2. HDC noted evaluating the forms is ongoing and the lands will be handed over in March.
HDC is leasing 23 land plots to transfer garages from Male’ to Hulhumale’. HDC said garages in Male’ that are smaller than 1,000sqft will be given 1,000sqft of land in Hulhumale’, while garages that are over 1,000sqft will be given 1,300sqft of land plots. The state-owned company will allow two-storey garages to be built on the land plots.
Many garages in Male’ are operating in limited spaces in residential buildings. The garages pose risks of dangerous incidents due to welding, tinkering, and the use of chemicals at the premises, and HDC believes moving the garages to Hulhumale’ will minimise such risks.
