Dialysis centre established in Lhaviyani Atoll Hospital

Male’ Water and Sewerage Company Limited (MWSC) has established a dialysis centre in Lhaviyani Atoll Hospital in Naifaru as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR).

Lhaviyani Atoll Hospital stated that services will begin on February 4. Lhaviyani Atoll consists of 11 dialysis patients that currently reside in Male’ for treatment, and the hospital stated that three patients and their families are moving back to receive treatment at the new dialysis centre while the eight other patients plan to return later this year.

Speaking to PSM News, Manager at Lhaviyani Atoll Hospital Jaufar Abdulla said the dialysis centre is prepared to receive its first patient. He also said that the machines and operation theatre have also been prepared and that the hospital had attempted to begin services in November but that the operation theatre was not up to the set standards at the time.

MWSC spent USD52,000 to establish the dialysis centre, which consists of two beds, one isolation room, and the latest equipment and resources. MWSC stated that it established the dialysis centre to ease the convenience of patients seeking treatment in the region. The state-owned company stated that dialysis patients can now seek high-quality treatment without having to travel to Male’.
