Managing Director of State Trading Organisation (STO) Hussain Amr has revealed that the state-owned company will be opening its first cashier-less store in March.
The store will be located in Hulhumale'. The store will allow business transactions through a mobile application. STO said customers will be able to log in and shop in the store after they register their bank cards in the application.
STO stated that the store will not only offer imported products to the public. As such, the store will also offer products from local businesses. In addition, STO stated that will be no employees working in the store, but there will be many safety measures in place. As such, artificial intelligence (AI) cameras will be installed in various areas of the store. The AI cameras have the ability to manage hardware and store stock.
