The Ministry of National Planning, Housing, and Infrastructure has revealed that the first three segments of the Ameenee Magu Road Development Project will soon be open to the public.

Furthermore, the Road Development Corporation Limited (RDC) has begun preparations to begin fieldwork at the fifth segment, which includes the block consisting of the Sinamale’ flats and Imaduddin School. RDC stated that the preparation work consists of re-routing the bus service of the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC), which includes leveling the road which will be used for the temporary alternative route. It also stated that the fourth segment is almost complete and that fieldwork at the fifth segment will begin after the upgraded water pipes are connected to the households.

The modernisation of Ameenee Magu, one of the main roads connecting all the wards of the city, is being carried out in 13 segments. The project involves paving the whole 1.7km length of Ameenee Magu with asphalt and installing a new stormwater drainage system. The project was contracted to RDC at a price of USD5.5 million.
