Permission no longer required to import four wheeled vehicles

The Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation has stated that individuals are no longer required to obtain permission prior to importing four-wheeled vehicles.

The regulation requiring individuals to obtain permission to import four-wheeled vehicles was implemented in 2009. It dictates that individuals submit the registration form or documents from the manufacturing company containing the relevant information about the vehicle.

The transport ministry stated that the regulation was put in place to determine the age of imported four-wheeled vehicles but that amendments have been made to determine the age during the registration process. The ministry noted that the import and registration of vehicles will now be more efficient as a redundant part of the process has been revoked.

As such, individuals are no longer required to obtain an L-10 permission to import a four-wheeled vehicle prior to registration and will now only have to submit the LR-1 Vehicle Registration Form and documents containing the relevant information from the manufacturing company.
