Gov't seeks bidders to develop Kulhudhuffushi TVET Centre

Ministry of Higher Education has opened for sealed bids from eligible and qualified bidders for the development and operation of a state-of-the-art Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Centre in Kulhudhuffushi, Haa Dhaalu Atoll.

The higher education ministry stated that the tender documents related to the Request for Expression of Interest (EOI) for the development and operation of the centre can be downloaded from the website of the Ministry of Finance. The deadline for the tender documents is May 4.

The centre is part of the project to build and operate higher education and training centres in different parts of the country. The project is under the Build, Finance and Operate Public-Private Partnership Model and is included in the Strategic Action Plan (SAP) of the government. The centre is dedicated to conducting courses at various levels in the field of engineering. In addition to these courses, various other vocational and related courses are also offered at the centre.

The higher education ministry stated that a land plot of 35,777sqm has been allocated for the construction of the centre and the land will be allocated for a period of 50 years. The centre will be equipped with an institute block, an accommodation block, a multi-purpose workshop, a classroom and an information and communication technologies (ICT) laboratory for conducting courses in other fields. There will also be an administrative services area, a staff room and student services area, an auditorium, meeting rooms, study rooms and a library. The centre will also provide various sports facilities for students. In addition, the project operator will have the opportunity to develop additional businesses on the land, according to the ministry.
