The Directorate of Aviation Security Administration of the Ministry of Defence and the Corporate Aviation Security Programme – Asia Pacific, the regional office of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) have launched a training programme called Combine Quality Control Workshop at Velana International Airport (VIA).
Speaking at the launch of the programme, Director General of Aviation Security Hussain Nazeef said that Minister of Defence Mariya Ahmed Didi has placed great emphasis on upgrading and strengthening the security services provided by the civil airports in the Maldives.
The five-day programme aims to enhance the skills and abilities of the staff responsible for ensuring that aviation security at airports is implemented in accordance with the standards set in the National Civil Aviation Security Programme of the countries. The programme is designed also to enable the participants to share their experiences and international best practices in aviation security quality control in the countries they represent.
The programme was conducted by experienced teachers from ICAO. As a result of such a programme in the Maldives, a large number of employees of aviation security agencies and airport operators will have the opportunity to receive international standard training at a low cost. A total of 20 participants attended the programme.
