The Maldives Post Limited has received the Universal Postal Union (UPU) Gold Award.
The award is given by UPU to postal operators who provide the best Express Mail Service (EMS) performance. As such, Maldives Post received the award for its performance in 2022 after ranking EMS performances in 174 countries.
The winners of the award also included Azerbaijan, Myanmar, Oman, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Qatar won the Silver Award while no country was selected for the Bronze Award. The Maldives Post also won the Bronze Award in 2019 and 2021. Maldives Post aims to provide quality services to the public and to keep pace with the advances in technology in other countries.
The Cooperative General Assembly also approved the strategic action plans of the member countries to improve the quality of EMS performances in different countries. The assembly also decided to hold the UPU Global Conference in Japan in June this year and a regional EMS symposium in Indonesia in September to discuss ways to improve the quality of postal services around the world.
