COVID-19 cases decrease in Maldives

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has revealed that the number of COVID-19 cases has decreased in the Maldives.

Statistics from the HPA show that 36 cases were reported from May 14-20, which is a significant decrease compared to the 190 cases reported at the beginning of May. The statistics show that 18 cases were reported in Male’ City, 11 cases were reported in inhabited islands and seven cases were reported in other areas. The total number of reported cases has risen to 186,625. The number of COVID-19 patients being treated in hospitals has also decreased from 38 to nine, while one death was reported last week, raising the number of total deaths to 315.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) ended the global health emergency declaration for COVID-19 on May 5. Over 6.9 million people have died of COVID-19.
