Tree Top Hospital opens first fertility centre in Maldives

The Tree Top Hospital (TTH) has inaugurated its groundbreaking Fertility Centre, marking a significant milestone as the first of its kind in the country. President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih inaugurated the opening ceremony. The centre is located within the premises of Tree Top Hospital.

TTH acknowledged that a considerable number of individuals still travel abroad at great expense for fertility treatments. By introducing IVF services at Tree Top, the center aims to alleviate the financial burden of overseas travel and its impact on the economy.

During the inauguration event, Ahmed Nazeer, the Managing Director of Tree Top Hospital, expressed his belief that the fertility center would bring about a revolutionary change in the Maldivian health system.

Situated on the third floor of the Women and Child Center, the TTH Fertility Centre will provide specialised fertility treatments. The range of services offered includes In vitro fertilization (IVF), Intrauterine insemination (IUI), and various other comprehensive treatment options, ensuring holistic care for patients.

The introduction of In vitro fertilization (IVF) at TTH Fertility Centre marks a significant milestone in the Maldives, making Tree Top the first healthcare facility in the country to offer this form of treatment. IVF is a medical procedure that assists couples struggling with infertility in conceiving a child. It involves fertilizing an egg outside the body in a laboratory dish and subsequently transferring the resulting embryo(s) to the uterus. In addition, the center offers Intrauterine insemination (IUI), a fertility treatment that involves directly placing sperm into a woman's uterus during ovulation.

Following the launch of the IVF service at Tree Top Hospital, approximately 250 individuals have already registered for screening in the hospital registry, as reported by TTH.

Tree Top Hospital has partnered with CIMAR Hospital in India to provide these services at a lower cost compared to neighboring countries. The hospital has set the price for a full cycle of services, including consultation, IVF or IUI, at USD 2,900. This pricing structure ensures that those who require the procedure can access it without excessive financial burden.

With the establishment of the fertility center, these vital services are now readily available to the Maldivian population.
