State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) has completed the development of an emergency powerhouse in the Greater Male’ Region.
Speaking to PSM News, Managing Director Ahmed Shareef said that the powerhouse will prevent outages caused due to overload and will also provide electricity in the event of an emergency. The powerhouse was built by a team of the most experienced employees at STELCO under the direct supervision of the managing director. The company noted that it was the first time it had placed so many power generators in commission in a short period of time.
The emergency powerhouse has a 20MW capacity and was built inside the old powerhouse building in Hulhumale’. STELCO completed the project at a fast pace to ensure the security of the power grid in Male’.
