The Ministry of Health has held an art exhibition to mark World Food Safety Day 2023.
The art exhibition was held in collaboration with the Maldives Food and Drug Authority (MFDA) and the World Health Organisation (WHO). The event was held at Artificial Beach in Male' City and aimed to educate the public about the importance of food safety.
The exhibition served as a platform for students to showcase their creativity and express their understanding of ways to ensure food security. More than 100 artworks created by school students were displayed, each illustrating various methods by which the public can safeguard their food. The health ministry also awarded the students who contributed the best artwork for the exhibition.
The exhibition also featured information sessions on safe food practices. These sessions aimed to enhance public awareness and knowledge about the significance of maintaining food safety standards in everyday life. Attendees had the opportunity to participate in activities that further reinforced the importance of safe food practices.
The WHO dedicated World Food Safety Day 2023 to its commitment to drawing attention and inspiring action towards preventing, detecting, and managing foodborne risks. By addressing these concerns, the initiative contributes to vital aspects such as food security, human health, economic prosperity, agricultural production, market access, tourism, and sustainable development.
