President accepts recommendations on Gov't housing scheme

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has accepted the recommendations of the Gedhoruveriya Committee on the future course of action for the Binveriya housing scheme. He made the decision in light of the recommendations of the cabinet and a careful evaluation of a paper submitted by the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure.

The Gedhoruveringe Committee is tasked with assessing and finalising the list of individuals eligible for flats and land plots under the administration's Binveriya and Gedhoruveriya housing schemes. The planning ministry submitted the paper to the cabinet requesting approval for the Gedhoruveriya Committee's recommendations on proceeding with individuals eligible under the Binveriya housing scheme. Further information regarding the decision will be released by the ministry soon.

The Binveriya housing scheme is the largest housing initiative undertaken in the country. It has received 15,164 applications from 23,088 individuals. The scheme aligns with the administration's commitment to providing housing and securing a life of dignity for all citizens.
