Health Protection Agency (HPA) has urged the public to stay vigilant to prevent communicable diseases from spreading when travelling during the holidays.
In a press release, HPA stated that the number of cases of flu and diarrhea has increased in the Maldives. The upcoming holidays will increase travelling and crowding, and HPA has urged the public to take extra measures to prevent the spread of such diseases.
HPA urged the public to test for any symptoms of COVID-19 and influenza as soon as possible, maintain distance when in public places, and prioritise clean hygiene. HPA also advised washing hands thoroughly with soap before preparing food and during everyday life to prevent diarrhea and vomiting. In addition, HPA stated that priority should be given to properly covering the body and using mosquito lotions and sprays to prevent dengue and Chikungunya. HPA also advised the public to seek medical attention immediately before the sickness gets worse.
