MIRA extends deadline for income tax return submission

Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) has extended the deadline for the submission of Income Tax Final Return and Payment for 2022 to July 9.

MIRA stated that the deadline was extended to provide more time to prepare income tax returns and accompanying financial statements for 2022, as the last week of June coincides with the Eid holiday. The public holidays, including the weekends, Hajj and Eid holidays, last from June 23 to July 1.

However, MIRA has not extended the deadline for other obligations. As such, businesses are required to submit their Gross Domestic Product (GST) Return and Payment, Green Tax Return and Payment, Airport Tax and Fees Return and Payment for May 2023, and the Payment of Tourism Land Rent for the third quarter of 2023 by July 2.

MIRA advised businesses to use MIRAconnect to file their tax returns and make payments anytime and anywhere.
