Ministry of Education has said it is working to ensure that Maldivian principals are appointed to all the schools by the end of the new academic year.
Speaking to PSM News, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education Ahmed Ali said that efforts are being made to seek and appoint permanent principals for the new academic year. He said that the ministry is conducting special programmes to train principals from abroad and many have been awarded their letters of appointment to run various schools. He also said the ministry aims to appoint Maldivians as permanent principals in all schools by the start of the new academic year. In addition, he said that the number of permanent principals appointed to schools has increased since completing the training programme and the number of foreign principals has significantly reduced.
The ministry stated that the last academic year has been a success with the training of principals and teachers under the VEHI O'level Success programme and the various activities conducted targeting 152 schools.
