Over 950,000 tourist visits so far in 2023

Ministry of Tourism has revealed that the number of tourist arrivals to the Maldives so far in 2023 has reached more than 950,000, which is a 14.2% increase compared to the same period last year.

Statistics from the tourism ministry show that a total of 952,608 tourists arrived to the Maldives as of the July 5 which is a 14.2% increase compared to the 834,186 tourist arrivals during the same period last year. The Maldives also has a daily average of 5,122 tourist arrivals.

The statistics show that the total number of arrivals in January was 172,499 tourists, 177,915 in February, 173,514 in March, 164,357 in April, 120,959 in May, 120,363 in June, and 23,001 until July 5. The largest number of tourists visited from India with 112,771 arrivals, while 111,519 tourists visited from Russia, and 81,707 visited from the United Kingdom (UK), 67,822 visited from China, and 67،064 visited from Germany. In addition, a total of 1,252 tourist establishments are open in the Maldives, consisting of 60,954 beds. They include resorts, hotels, guesthouses, and liveaboards.

The government aims to welcome 1.8 million tourists in 2023 and break last year’s record of 1.6 million tourists.
