President launches oneGov platform

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has launched the oneGov platform, which integrates government services through a modern digital interface, facilitating seamless interactions between the public and the government.

The oneGov platform aims to eliminate the need for inter-island travel to access services at government offices and institutions, address challenges arising from a lack of information, and eliminate the inconvenience of printing forms for service applications. President Solih said that the platform, which offers digital government services 24/7, would aid in combating corruption, reducing paper consumption, and promoting environmental and economic growth.

The oneGov platform will be maintained by the TradeNet Maldives Corporation Limited under the Ministry of Economic Development. The platform currently has 111 services available from five institutions, which are the Economic ministry, Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure, Health Protection Agency and Fuvahmulah City Council. As such, the public and businesses can access various services including obtaining permits, documents, and submitting complaints.

TradeNet developed the oneGov platform in order to make accessing the services provided by the institutions quick and convenient for the public. Users can use the platform to view information about the services, fill out and submit forms and check on its progress. The forms are designed to require applicants to only provide information relevant to the specific service, and information on the applicant’s national identification card and other personal information will be readily available on the platform.

Additionally, individuals can call 1500 to access any government service through the oneGov platform, eliminating the need to call specific numbers for different agencies. To ensure accessibility, oneGov support centers have been established in Male' City, Fuvahmulah City, and Addu City. The government aims to establish more support centres and make all government services available through the oneGov platform.
