The Gedhoruveringe Committee has announced that it received a total of 800 complaints regarding the list of recipients of land plots under the Binveriya housing scheme. The government had opened a complaint submission window from June 26 to July 15, allowing individuals to voice their concerns about the preliminary list.
In an interview with PSM News, Minister of State for National Planning, Housing, and Infrastructure, Akram Kamaluddin stated the committee will address these complaints and provide responses within a week. The final list of recipients is expected to be concluded this month. The Binveriya housing scheme is the country's largest housing initiative, reflecting the government's commitment to ensuring housing and a life of dignity for all citizens.
A total of 23,088 individuals submitted 15,164 applications for the Binveriyaa scheme, of which 19,858 have been deemed eligible. As per the preliminary list, 10,314 recipients will be allocated a total of 5,000 land plots in the first round of the Binveriyaa scheme. This includes 1,000 plots from Hulhumale', 2,000 plots from Gulhifalhu, and 2,000 plots from Giraavaru.
Furthermore, the planning ministry provided the opportunity for joint applications, allowing individuals to apply alongside those who are already on the preliminary list aiming to increase the chances of receiving land plots. The government has assured that all eligible applicants who applied for the first round of the Binveriyaa scheme will be granted land plots.
