Third edition of Savaadheetha yacht rally launched

Maldives Integrated Tourism Development Corporation (MITDC) has launched the third edition of the Savaadheetha yacht rally.

Savaadheetha Dhathuru is a series of international yacht rallies organised by MITDC to promote local tourism and showcase the rich and ancient history and culture of the Maldives which is more than 2,000 years old. The first ever yacht rally in the Maldives, titled Savaadheetha Dhathuru, was held from February 5-20, as part of the events held to mark the 50th anniversary of the tourism industry of the Maldives. In addition, a total of 13 yachts from six countries are participating in the second voyage this year.

MITDC has decided to hold the third edition of the Savaadheetha yacht rally in February 2024. During the event, participants will cross two ocean paths and reach the equator. The rally will begin in Kudagiri, Kaafu Atoll, and chart a course through several islands before concluding with a gala night celebration in Addu City.

The third edition of the Savaadheetha yacht rally has been endorsed by the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of Arts, Culture, and Heritage, Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC), Maldives Association of Tourism Industry (MATI) and National Boating Association. In addition, the International Tourism Studies Association, an international organisation that conducts tourism scientific research, has also endorsed the rally.
