Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has been contracted to complete developmental projects in five islands in Haa Alifu Atoll.
Ministry of National Planning, Housing, and Infrastructure contracted MTCC to complete a shore protection project in Himandhoo, shore protection and harbour expansion in Uligan, and channel dredging and breakwater construction in Kelaa. The state-owned company is also tasked with completing land reclamation projects in Dhidhdhoo and Thuraakunu.
As part of the reclamation project in Thuraakunu, MTCC is tasked with reclaiming 8 hectares, and constructing a 1,200m revetment to protect the reclaimed area. The company is expected to complete the project within 630 days at a cost of USD11 million. It is also tasked with reclaiming 26 hectares in Dhidhdhoo within 360 days at a cost of USD5.8 million.
Additionally, MTCC is tasked with conducting dredging operations of 16,632cbm at the harbour and 57,750cbm in the channel in Kelaa, as well as constructing a 36m revetment, 20m groyne, and a 309m geobag revetment and installing habour lights. The company is expected to complete the project within 300 days at a cost of USD1.2 million.
As part of the project in Uligan, MTCC is tasked with dredging 10,400cbm of the harbour, 46,181cbm of the new part of the harbour, and 21,708cbm of the channel. The scope of works also include sand filling operations, and construction of the breakwater, revetments, and harbour pavement. The company is expected to complete the projects within 600 days at a cost of USD5 million.
Furthermore, MTCC is tasked with construction a geobag revetment, rock boulder revetment, and rock boulder groynes in Himandhoo. The company is expected to complete the projects within 365 days at a cost of USD1.7 million.
