Customs conduct TRS to expedite clearance of goods

Maldives Customs Service has conducted a Time Release Study (TRS) to expedite the clearance of goods imported into the Maldives.

Speaking to PSM News, Commissioner General of Customs Abdulla Shareef said that the clearance of imported goods is carried out in collaboration with many institutions. He, therefore, said that if there are delays in an institution the entire process will be delayed. As such, he said a TRS has been conducted in collaboration with the World Customs Organisation (WCO), which will help identify any delays by the different institutions and identify areas for improvement. He also said said the study will bring about a positive change in the work being done to expedite the clearance of goods for next year.

Customs stated that the TRS conducted is closely linked to businesses that have expressed concern in the clearance of goods. Therefore, the main purpose of the study is to reduce the time and price of imported goods.
