BCC opens Thaanavaa literary carnival

Business Centre Corporation (BCC) has opened the literary carnival, Thaanavaa.

Thaanavaa is the first such literary carnival to be held in the country. The two-day event is being held at Central Park in Hulhumale’ from 1600hrs-1800hrs and 2000hrs-2100hrs. The purpose of the event is to revive the Maldivian culture and literature and to provide the opportunity for those in the field of literature to showcase their skills and products.

The literary carnival is a unique event that is a special initiative of BCC under the Ministry of Economic Development that is being held in collaboration with Dhivehi Language Academy. The carnival was inaugurated by author Mohamed 'Madulu' Waheed at a special ceremony, which was attended by President of the Dhivehi Language Academy Ashraf Abdul Raheem and Abdul Rasheed Hussain, who holds the Most Honourable Order of Distinguished Rule of Izzudheen.

BCC stated that it wants to provide more commercial opportunities to those working in the field of literature and that the literary carnival is a unique event that is not only dedicated to writers but to everyone who has contributed to literature. BCC added that this is an opportunity to revive the Maldivian culture by opening up commercial opportunities and allowing those in the field to receive revenue.

The literary carnival features Maldivian literary works which are available for sale. The event will also host panel discussions, debates, and various literary competitions. Around 30 stalls have been established at the event.
