The Road Development Corporation Limited (RDC) has successfully completed the paving of asphalt under the second phase of the road development project in Thinadhoo, Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll.
The second phase of the project commenced in May, following the completion of pre-paving works. To date, the RDC has paved a total of 6.5 kilometers of road under this project, and an additional 500 meters of road is currently undergoing paving.
On April 8, 2021, RDC was entrusted with the responsibility of executing the second phase of the road development project in Thinadhoo. This project encompasses the asphalt paving of 14 roads on the island, covering a distance of 6,557 meters. Since contracting RDC, some adjustments have been made to the project scope, which now includes the development of five previously unfinished roads, as well as the installation of street lights, speed breakers, traffic signs, and a comprehensive drainage system.
To ensure the successful completion of the project, the government has extended the deadline until August, at an estimated cost of over USD 5 million.
