President inaugurates harbours in Feevah, Feydhoo

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has inaugurated the completion of harbour upgrading projects in Feevah and Feydhoo in Shaviyani Atoll.

The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) was contracted to carry out the harbour upgrading projects. The projects included a range of improvements such as harbour basin deepening, seawall development, installation of revetments, development of quay walls, pavement, and port lighting.

Under the guidance of President Solih, the administration has made significant progress towards achieving equitable development across all inhabited islands in the Maldives. By enhancing the quality of life for citizens and empowering them to lead dignified lives, the administration is laying the foundation for a brighter future for all.

During his trip to Shaviyani Atoll, President Solih also inaugurated the Fenaka Corporation office and powerhouse in Goidhoo and the completion of the water supply project on Kanditheemu. The new powerhouse and office in Goidhoo has modern facilities and can accommodate up to 10 staff members. Strategically located away from residential areas, the facility houses four generator sets with a combined power generation capacity of 648 Kilowatts.

President Solih also inaugurated the Goidhoo electricity network. This initiative replaces the island's old powerhouse, built in the centre of a residential neighbourhood 18 years ago, and is part of the administration's commitment to addressing the challenges island residents face. The government-funded water supply network was constructed by a joint venture between Mohan Mutha Exports Private Limited and Point Three Private Limited. Final preparations for the water network's commissioning are underway.
