State Trading Organisation (STO) has signed an agreement to develop a Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD) in Hulhumale' Hospital.
The project will entail the development of a CSSD for Hulhumale’ Hospital in partnership with prominent Spanish brand Matachana. The state-owned company has previously supplied and installed Matachana brand equipment to local hospitals.
STO will undertake the interior design in addition to supplying and installation of all necessary equipment. The state-owned company will also provide training for the staff. The project was contracted to be completed within 262 days.
CSSD is a crucial part of each hospital, which plays a vital role in patient safety and in reducing hospital surgical infection. The department is where sterilisation and other actions on medical devices and equipment are performed.
