India's Vistara Airline has commenced direct flights from New Delhi to the Maldives from October 1.
Vistara Airline already currently operates direct flights between Mumbai and the Maldives. However, it is the first time that flights have been launched between New Delhi and the Maldives. The airline will operate flights every day of the week. The airline will utilise an Airbus A320 for operations between the two countries, catering to passengers across economy, premium, and business classes. Economy class return ticket fares start at USD324.
The direct flights from Delhi to the Maldives will increase the number of tourist arrivals to the country. The airline stated that the flights would further strengthen relations between the two countries.
India is the second top source market for the Maldivian tourism industry so far this year. According to the Ministry of Tourism, 131,926 tourists arrived in the Maldives from India as of August 23.
