RDC contracted second phase of Inguraidhoo road development

Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure has handed over the second phase of the road development project in Inguraidhoo, Raa Atoll to Road Development Corporation (RDC). The agreement was signed by Director General at the planning ministry Fathimath Shana Farooq and General Manager of RDC Hassan Saeed.

The project was contracted to RDC on a design-and-build basis, at a price of USD3.6 million. The duration allocated for the project is 600 days. Under the project, RDC is tasked with paving 1.9km of roads in Inguraidhoo and installing a stormwater drainage system on the roads that are being developed. The project also involves the installation of streetlights.

With a population of 2,125 residents, Inguraidhoo attracts a significant influx of visitors for various purposes. The residents face challenges in road usage, especially during the rainy season. The objective of the road development project is to tackle such issues by providing well-constructed roads and delivering viable solutions to other existing issues.
