President pledges to commence housing projects in Lhaviyani Atoll

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has pledged to commence housing and other development projects in Lhaviyani Atoll if elected for a second term.

At a campaign event in Olhuvelifushi, President Solih pledged to reclaim land and build row houses or flats on the island. He also vowed to develop the roads and upgrade the health centre to a 24hr healthcare provider as well establish ATM services, build a new council administration building, and a new mosque.

Additionally, President Solih noted that the construction of 50 housing units is ongoing in Kurendhoo and pledged to commence the construction of 50 more housing units in his second term. He also vowed to develop the roads in Kurendhoo and develop an indoor youth complex and upgrade the waste management system.

During his visit to Naifaru, President Solih highlighted the longstanding housing issue in the island and pledged to construct 100 housing units. He also said he would reclaim more land to construct 200 flats and establish more services such as therapy for people with special needs. He further pledged to build a laboratory and multipurpose hall for the school.

Furthermore, President Solih promised the residents of Naifaru that he would reduce their monthly rent for the flats and connect all households to the sewerage system. He added that he would develop and modernise the roads.
