President inaugurates projects in Nellaidhoo

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has inaugurated newly completed infrastructure projects in Nellaidhoo, Haa Dhaalu Atoll. The projects include an upgraded harbour, a new powerhouse, and a coastal protection project.

The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) completed the coastal protection and harbour upgrading projects. The harbour upgrading project included the development of a 164m breakwater, 224m quay wall, 125m groyne and other improvements. The coastal protection project involved the installation of an 873m revetment and the development of a 1,500cbm swimming area.

Moreover, the newly constructed powerhouse in Nellaidhoo has a power generation capacity of 980kW, representing a significant advancement in providing reliable and efficient power. Its strategic location, away from residential areas, minimises disturbances for the island's residents. The facility is spacious and modern, capable of accommodating many personnel.
