Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure has contracted SJ Construction Private Limited to build 50 housing units in Rasdhoo, Alifu Alifu Atoll.
The agreement was signed by the Director General of the Planning Ministry Ahmed Vishan Naseem and the Director at SJ Construction Shihad Ibrahim. As per the project, SJ Construction is tasked with completing the construction of the housing units within 270 days at a cost of USD5.5 million.
Each housing unit will span 1,000sqft and will have three rooms, three bathrooms, a sitting room, a kitchen, laundry, and a store room. The surrounding area will be well-lit with a park and a vehicle parking area.
In 2021, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih visited Rasdhoo and pledged to solve the housing issue on the island. Rasdhoo has a population of 1,200 residents and a 20-hectare land area.
